SNAP®, which stands for STOP NOW AND PLAN, is an evidence-based, model. SNAP® helps troubled children and their parents learn how to effectively manage their emotions and ‘keep problems small’. The gender-sensitive SNAP® Boys and SNAP® Girls programs are designed for children ages 6-11 that are engaging in aggressive, anti-social behavior and/or have come into contact with authority figures at school or in the community. Children and families may participate in the following components, with the goal of preventing future anti-social behavior and reducing the chances of conflict with family, peers and authority figures.
This project is designed to engage youth using an interactive technology and scenario-based platform that follows youth to safely engage with complete and challenging situations. Youth participate through digitized manual sessions that contain though-provoking scenarios to promote discussions around effective coping and problem-solving strategies using SNAP. SNAP helps youth make the connection between their thoughts, feelings and actions, emotion regulation, self-control and problem-solving skills, and building effective supports.
The SNAP for Probation program utilizes the SNAP for Youth curriculum with the intention to reduce the risk of further contact with Law Enforcement and/or gang membership among youth between the ages of twelve (12) and nineteen (19) who are involved in the Juvenile Justice System.
