PrEP-PEP

PrEP Services

Pre-exposure prophylaxis, commonly known as PrEP, involves the use of an FDA-approved antiretroviral (ARV) drug therapy to help safeguard against HIV. This medication, consisting of compounds several different medicines utilized in combination with other HIV treatment drugs, has demonstrated the potential to reduce the risk of HIV infection by up to 99% when consistently taken.

PEP Services

Post-exposure prophylaxis, or PEP, serves as a biomedical prevention strategy against HIV infection. In the event of potential exposure to HIV, timely action is of the highest importance. PEP should start within 72 hours of recent exposure, and the prescribed regimen spans 28 days. The decision between PrEP and PEP depends on your specific situation.

The Pediatric & Family Health and Wellness Center offers a PrEP/PEP program designed to assist you in initiating PrEP/PEP.  To explore PrEP/PEP program options, assess eligibility, understand costs, or schedule an appointment with a medical professional to determine if PrEP/PEP is suitable for you, please contact us at 305-474-1800 or visit our location to begin protecting yourself from HIV.
